We're Engaged! (Bling Blog)

As most of you probably know, Chris proposed to me on Saturday, August 16th and I said . . . .YES! :-) Chris only knew two things ahead of time: 1.) I wanted it to be a surprise and 2.) I wanted him to pick out the ring. And both were perfect.

I was excited to spend our first weekend here in Nashville with no plans and relaxing. So, I woke up around 9 and was just laying around. Chris pulled out this big box from Shutterfly and handed it to me. So, I opened it and it was a photo book he had made on their website of pictures of us over the past 3 1/2 years. I started looking through it and still didn't really think anything of it (other than how lucky I am to have him and how he always does neat things like this for me). I was crying and laughing, because of course the pictures included captions that were typical hilarious "Chrisism's".

I started to notice when Chris was laughing he sounded a little nervous as we got towards the end of the book. But I thought it's 9:30am, he just knew I had a bad week and wanted to cheer me up with this. Then on the last page his caption was more serious and said something to the effect of we have had a lot of good times together and "I can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together." And I thought oh no (in a good way of course).

He asked me to close my eyes and when he said "ok" I opened my eyes and he was on his knee with a beautifully wrapped little box. It took both of us to open it, because I wasn't functioning very well. ha Then he asked me if I would spend the rest of my life with him and I think I said yes out loud, but Chris will have to confirm that because it was a little fuzzy at that point.

The ring was beautiful, and as I knew when I told him to pick it out, it was much more beautiful than what I could/would have picked out. It was perfect, but as I told him I had to get used to it since I don't really wear jewelry and it had so many diamonds! That took about 2 days and I was ready to pick out more for the band though. ha

Then I wondered how the day could get any better. . . it was only 9:30am!! And he got me good. Well he told me to pack my bags, and I went from being emotional to excited wondering where in the world we were going.

We took a couple hours to call our families, I threw some clothes (very random) in a suitcase and we were off. 19 miles later we arrived at the Opryland Hotel and I was thrilled! http://www.gaylordhotels.com/gaylord-opryland/?source=www.oprylandhotel.com I had been there with my family a few times and always thought it would be such a romantic place to enjoy with someone you loved, and so we did. . .

We went straight to a pizza place inside for lunch. As I was on the phone with someone and staring at my ring, I looked over to find the cashiers all staring and waving at me. Chris was smiling and I knew he had just told them the good news. I got a little embarrassed and just smiled and waved. I just found it cute that these girls that didn't even know us were so excited. Then as soon as we finished our pizza, all the girls came walking outside with a plate of ice cream and chocolate cake with a candle. I looked at Chris and said, "Did you do this?" and he goes unfortunately not, but that would have been good. ha Everyone at Opryland continued to make the day that special from the lady that checked us in making sure everything was set up to the waitress at dinner to the room service guy that Chris enjoyed talking to. They all had that southern hospitality and friendliness that just added to the special day. We even got chocolates and a nice note of congratulations delivered to our room from the woman that took Chris' reservation.

Breakfast on our balcony

Needless to say, I didn't want to leave and I didn't want the day to end . . . but that's how every day is with Chris. :-)
