To blog or not to blog

I have decided to start a blog in order to help stay in touch with family and friends and keep them updated on what is going on with us as we start this exciting new adventure! I'm also hoping it is a way to keep me sane (and therefore keep Chris sane) as we work through all of the changes we are going to experience together.

I was inspired by the blog of my brother's childhood friend and his wife (Arthur Adventure - http://arthuradventure.blogspot.com/). I started reading it over a year ago and would check it off and on when I ate my lunch at work. I think it was a combination of his wife's way with words and the excitement of them expecting twins when I started checking it that just made me want to know how they were doing. Even though I probably haven't seen him since I followed him and my brother around and begged to play soccer with them in the back yard 20 years ago, I felt connected to them through a blog!? Who knew . . .

All I know is that I smiled and then cried my way through her blogs as I took a "journey" with them as they had twin boys, one of which had a heart defect which took his precious little life a couple months later. In between those 2 major life events, she lost her mom to cancer. They were events I could not even pretend to relate to, however through her entries I feel that I grew from their strength, faith and positive outlook on life. I just know that takes some pretty incredible people to do that through a blog!

On a lighter note, they most recently followed their passion by moving to Minnesota where he could work for the Mayo clinic. I enjoy reading their entries as they go through their move and it helps me prepare for what we have ahead of us in our move to Nashville!

I hope that this is a way to share our upcoming journey with family and friends, and maybe make it feel like everyone is coming with us. Bear with me, as I am a numbers person and not an English teacher! :-)
